FAQ
What is Jolie Dennison Art Studio?
Jolie Dennison Art Studio is a full service working and teaching art studio. Jolie is a practising artist who sells her work both locally and internationally. She finds the enthusiasm and energy of kids to be a great inspiration. Art classes for children and art parties and workshops for people of all ages are available.
When are you open?
The studio is open for art classes and workshops. All other times are by appointment.
Do I need to be artistic?
There is an artist living inside of everyone! Even those who feel they are not creative are often surprised by their results when attending Jolie's activities. She will explain how to use the materials and give some simple, yet effective tips for creating a masterpiece!
Are your parties, classes and workshops just for children?
No way! Everyone should find time for creativity! People of all ages enjoy the camaraderie of a group activity along with the chance to discover their inner Picassos.
How much do children's art classes cost?
Classes for kids run weekly during the school year and cost £65 for 10 weeks. You can always find information about current courses on the “art classes” page of the website.
How much does an art party cost?
Private parties are £12 per person. You can find details information on the "parties" page of the website.
What does the price of a party include?
Private parties have the use of the studio for 2 hours, instruction, use of the kitchen with microwave and refrigerator, CD player, drink and crisps for each guest, paper plates and plastic tableware.
How long does a party take?
Parties last 2 hours. The creative portion takes about an hour and a half and another half hour is allotted in for refreshments. Younger children tend to paint faster, so for children 6 and under we recommend about an hour for creative time on most projects and an hour for refreshments. You may wish to use the extra time for party games or to open presents.
Can I bring my own food and beverages?
You may bring a cake and additional food if you like. There is a small kitchen with a sink, microwave and fridge that you are free to use. Plain paper plates, cups and plastic utensils are provided. Non-disposable utensils are not provided, so you may wish to bring your own cake knife.
Can I take my art project home with me?
Yes, your project is yours to keep. If your project requires paint or glue, you might find that it is still a bit wet when you leave, but we do our best to get it as dry as possible for you before you go.
Can you come to our home/school/club?
Yes, I can do a party in your chosen location. A reasonable travel fee may be charged if you are far away from the studio.
What sort of materials do you use?
We work primarily with acrylic paints because they are fast drying and versatile. They can last for a lifetime if cared for properly. Materials can stain, so we suggest all guests where old clothes. We use child-friendly paints and do not use any toxic pigments. For jewellery parties, we use beading wire and clasps because they are longer lasting, but can use stretch cord upon request (please let us know in advance). We use a variety of beads, including glass, semi-gem and wood. Our beads are appropriate for both children and adults.
Can I buy kits to do a party on my own at home instead?
Yes, many of the party options are available as a DIY kit. Ring 028 9042 8680 for a price list.
Where can I park?
Parking on the street in Holywood can be a challenge on certain days and times, but there are often spaces on Church Road just in front of the studio, or around the corner in either direction. If you can’t find street parking, there are alternative solutions. There is a car park just across and down the road a little that charges a fairly low parking fee. If you fancy a short walk (about 10 minutes) there is a free car park at the other end of Holywood.
